Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency (ECPTA), in partnership with Banking Sector Education and Training Authority (BANKSETA) invite 20 operating tourism accommodation/ conference enterprises to participate in the Tourism Resource Efficiency Capacity Building Programme 2022. Resource Efficiency revolves around a system of continual improvement, with the aim of improving business efficiency and reducing carbon footprint. The program will encompass the following (but not limited to):
a) Awareness raising so that participants gain better understanding of tourism resource efficiency
b) A targeted entrepreneurship training which focuses on the following:
• Theoretical training in a classroom setting
• On- site practical training which involves the following-
– Individual business assessment on resource efficiency
– Individual analysis report with identified gaps/ problem areas and recommendations
– Development of the individual implementation plan based on the recommendations
The programme targets Women Owned Enterprises to increase energy and water efficiency as well as decrease/ eliminate waste. It also promotes application of green tourism practices to reduce carbon footprint and operational cost, thus increasing business profits.
Selection criteria:
i) Accommodation/ conference enterprises
ii) Must be in operation for a minimum of 12 months
iii) Must be operating in a township/ small town/ rural area/ local farm
To be eligible for acceptance into this programme, prospective applicants must:
• Sign and submit Bursary Agreement form as attached below
• Submit a copy of the identity document for the participating individual from the enterprise
• Submit a valid tax clearance certificate/ PIN
• Submit a motivation showing interest in participation into the programme
The following areas will be prioritized for the enrollment of enterprise:
– Mbashe Local Municipal area
– Mnquma Local Municipal area
– Joe Gqabi District Municipality area
