New Routes to East London Take Wing

We aren’t even a quarter of the way through 2021, and the year is already looking promising for tourism Eastern Cape. Provincial travel is unbanned, beaches are open, and British Airways has announced a new low-cost flight route to East London!

From 17 March 2021, British Airways will introduce 20 weekly flights to East London from Johannesburg and Cape Town. The launch of the two new routes is accompanied by discounted fares starting from R595. Considering that baggage and meals are included in the price, it really is a great deal!

“As we expand our schedule and offer more choice, we are pleased to now offer the full-service British Airways experience on these new routes,” Desmond O’Connor, executive head of revenue management at British Airways, said.

“Furthermore, East London will also be displayed as a destination, as part of British Airways’ global distribution network.”

The airline aims to promote local tourism by offering affordable fares and holiday packages to East London.

“We will be offering holiday packages through our tour operating divisions, which we hope will help to rejuvenate domestic tourism to the region,” O’Connor said.

This is wonderful news for East London and surrounding areas and a great step in the right direction for tourism in the province. We are optimistic about the momentum happening within the tourism industry in South Africa and are eagerly awaiting the benefits these new flights will have for East London and the province as a whole!
