- A CRIMINAL OFFENCE

ECPTA supports fair and transparent tourism business practices and condemns government officials' demand for cash in place of meals in accommodation facilities. There are instances where officials have threatened to discontinue supporting the facilities if their demands are not met. This practice is a criminal offence, as outlined in the Provincial Instruction Note.3 of 2018/19. It has a seriously negative impact on the affected tourism businesses and the entire tourism sector. Government officials are requested to refrain from this practice which could lead to criminal charges against them. READ MORE
