ECPTA PRIORITISES EMPLOYEE WELL-BEING THROUGH WELLNESS DAY

The Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency (ECPTA) reaffirmed its commitment to the health and well-being of its staff by hosting a successful Wellness Day at its head office on 30 May 2025. The annual event, organised by the agency’s Wellness Unit, forms part of ECPTA’s ongoing efforts to create a supportive and nurturing workplace environment.

Designed to offer staff a moment to step away from their daily responsibilities, the Wellness Day provided an opportunity for employees to prioritise their physical, emotional, and financial well-being. The event brought together a variety of health and wellness services under one roof, allowing employees to access practical support and information.

Employees were able to engage in one-on-one sessions with financial advisors and fitness coaches, offering valuable advice on money management and healthy lifestyle habits. On-site health services were also made available, including mammogram screenings and voluntary blood donation facilitated by the South African National Blood Service (SANBS). To keep energy levels high and spirits lifted, group aerobics sessions were held, adding a fun, physical element to the day’s activities.

ECPTA Wellness Officer, Aphiwe Fodo, emphasised the significance of the programme in supporting employee well-being within the organisation. “The integrated Employee Wellness Programme is guided by a vision to develop and maintain a healthy, committed, and productive workforce within the public service, a workforce capable of delivering quality service to the people of the Eastern Cape,” said Fodo.

Fodo added that the programme’s mission is to promote healthy lifestyle choices among ECPTA staff, recognising that a well-supported workforce is better equipped to perform at its best.

“It’s about more than just physical health, it’s about ensuring our employees are emotionally, mentally, and financially well, so they can thrive both personally and professionally,” she concluded.
