ECPTA ELEVATES VISITOR EXPERIENCES WITH NEW HIKING TRAIL AND RESERVE UPGRADES

Following the success of ECPTA’s partnership with Go Baviaans: Baviaanskloof Accommodation and Activities and the Another Way Community Trust on the renowned The Leopard Trail, a new chapter unfolds with the launch of the Baviaanskloof Canyon Trail, another unforgettable slackpacking experience in the Baviaanskloof World Heritage Site Wilderness Reserve.

The Leopard Trail remains a favourite among nature lovers and adventure seekers, a four-day, three-night hike with your bags and food transported each day so you can fully enjoy the rugged beauty of the Kloof.

Now, the newly launched Canyon Trail is setting the bar higher. This slackpacking five-day, four-night trail allows hikers to explore the region’s striking slot canyons while their luggage is transported between camps. Along the route, guests stay in luxury glamping tents featuring wooden floors, fireplaces, outdoor hot showers, and swimming pools, allowing visitors to enjoy nature without compromising on comfort.

Simultaneously with new product development, the Agency is also investing in infrastructure upgrades within its existing nature reserves to meet growing visitor expectations and improve tourism competitiveness. Leading this initiative is the Great Fish Nature Reserve, located near Alice, which is currently undergoing a comprehensive renovation of its accommodation facilities.

These initiatives form part of ECPTA’s broader strategy to diversify tourism offerings, attract new markets, and support community-driven tourism enterprises.
