The Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency (ECPTA) highlighted the province’s diverse tourism offerings at the NAACAM Show, held in mid August 2025 at the Boardwalk, Nelson Mandela Bay. While the event primarily showcases South Africa’s automotive manufacturing capabilities, ECPTA leveraged the platform to position the Eastern Cape as a destination that combines industrial innovation with rich cultural, natural, and adventure experiences.
Opening the event, MEC Nonkqubela Pieters reflected on the opportunities and challenges facing the automotive sector, including global supply chain shifts and the transition to electric vehicles. She emphasised the importance of preparing a future-ready workforce.
“We must modernise skills development in partnership with our TVET colleges, universities, and industry to ensure our workforce is equipped for the electric vehicle era, from battery technology to software systems and green manufacturing. This is critical not only for industrial growth but for inclusive economic development across the province,” said Pieters.
Through the Eastern Cape Government and DEDEAT, the province is committed to attracting investment, supporting local suppliers, and fostering an EV-ready workforce, all while ensuring tourism remains a complementary pillar of economic growth.
