The Eastern Cape continues to establish itself as one of South Africa’s most attractive summer destinations, with major events playing a central role in driving seasonal visitation. Festivals such as Berlin November, Metro FM Heatwave, London Roots, Billy Beach, Imvelaphi Festival, ECAWA Music Festival and the Buyelekhaya Festival draw thousands of travellers into the province every year.
These events stimulate substantial economic activity through increased demand for accommodation, transport, food vendors, crafters, guides and township-based tourism services. They also encourage visitors to explore coastal and inland routes, heritage attractions and nature reserves while they are in the province.
