The tourism sector in the Eastern Cape received a meaningful boost on 28 November 2025 with the official launch of Mnembe Safari Lodge in the Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality. The lodge is set to play an important role in diversifying the region’s wildlife and safari offering.
As part of its commitment to transforming the wildlife economy, the Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency through its Game Transformation Unit donated 268 wildlife species to the lodge. This donation seeds the lodge’s game experience and gives Mnembe a strong foundation to grow as a significant safari tourism player in the province.
The lodge has already begun contributing to local economic development. Eighteen people from surrounding communities have been employed in hospitality, maintenance and safari operations. With fifteen rooms made up of six executive suites and nine standard rooms, Mnembe Safari Lodge is positioned to offer an intimate and authentic experience that strengthens the Eastern Cape’s broader lodge circuit.
