Farm stays and adventure breaks on Tharfield Farm. Situated on a beautiful unspoilt coastline and between two stunning river valleys, half way between Port Elizabeth and East London. Stay in our 1820 style stone farm cottage. Sleeps 4 in two bedrooms, self catering, sea view. Take part in farm tasks such as feeding grooming horses, dipping cattle, bottle feeding a calf. Or let us tailor- make your adventure break to include such activities as horse riding and hiking through forest and along the river or on the beach, canoing, swimming, sandboarding, relaxing in hammocks on a deck with a stunning sea view and camping out at River Treehouse or Fishermans Beach Cabin. Try a 2- or 3-day horse riding safari or hiking adventure, along the beach and up river, to sleep at River Treehouse, high in a yellowwood tree in the forest. Stay a second night at the Fishermans Beach Cabin hidden in the dune forest at the river mouth. The 7km scenic hike follows the river through the forest between the two camps, takes approx 3 hours. Provided at River Treehouse – 12 mattresses, braai place with tongs, kettle grid, firewood, drinking water, simple bush shower and toilet. Provided at Fishermans Beach Cabin – 6 mattresses, braai place with tongs, kettle grid, firewood, drinking water, bush toilet, cold water shower, electric lights and kettle. We have calm horses and competent experienced guides. Previous riding experience welcome but not necessary. Min 2, max 8 people on our beach rides and horse safaris.
