Set in the most tranquil surrounds, on vast “vlakte-veld”, with views of the mountains, this beautiful and stylish decorated private Country House and “The Flat”is situated on a 4300ha operational stock-farm owned by Tommie & Carine van Kerken and their 3 beautiful daughters, who would love to give you a warm and heartfelt welcome.

We offer stylish, yet affordable, value-for-money self-catering accommodation. Accommodation options are between the Country House, sleeping 21, or The Flat, sleeping 2. They can be booked together or separate. Braai packs can be pre-ordered, same as for pies, or other pre-cooked meals. B&B option on request.

The self-contained Flat with its own private entrance, consists of a sunny north facing Queen bedroom, a bathroom and spacious open plan living area with all you need for a comfortable stay. No satellite tv, but a Tv set and dvd player is available.
There is a portable braai and we supply braai wood.
DikkopVlakte has a large lounge, uniquely furnished, with a lovely fireplace, bay windows, books and a TV set with a DVD player. No satellite TV. It opens up onto a large veranda, reminding you of days gone by, where one can have endless coffees, just sit and relax or chat the afternoon away.
The dining room are sunny and welcoming, and the indoor braai room, adjacent to the kitchen, with its rustic but stylish decor draws families and friends around the braai-fire. The double doors of the braai room open up out onto the lapa with a huge fire pit for braais under the stars and extends the entertainment area. Braai wood are supplied.
The fully equipped kitchen consists of a Bosch 5 burner gas/electric oven, a dishwasher, fridge, freezer, fridge/freezer combination, microwave, urn and an automatic top loader washing machine. We have all the facilities for a great unforgettable weekend or an extended holiday stay to make you feel at home. Domestic help are also available at an additional fee.
The 6 spacious bedrooms, beautifully furnished, are ideal for big groups or for private family accommodation. The rooms can each accommodate 3 to 4 people, and you will have the additional benefit of having the spacious Queen-size four-poster bedroom with a corner bath for a romantic stay.
For cold Karoo nights, our beds have cosy feather-and-down duvets.
We provide fresh farm milk on arrival, coffee, tea, and our daughter’s well-known rusks, Carlinetjie se Lekkerrrrr beskuit, are for sale at R45 per packet. They are truly delicious.

There is a lovely big farm swimming pool during hot summer months, a table tennis table, board games, books, dvds, a playground for the children, birdwatching, hunting, fishing in the Great Fish River, picnics on the mountains, stargazing, beautiful trails for hiking and mountain-biking through aloe forests and spekboom hills, 4×4 tracks and….magnificent sunsets….!!!!
