Kamala Game Reserve

Located in Somerset East

Kamala Game Reserve is a big 5 reserve that is situated at the confluence of the 6000ft high Bruinjieshoogte and Boschberg mountain ranges. The Little Fish River meanders through the reserve for 34km. This undulating terrain, rich soils and water bless Kamala with six different plant biomes (succulent Karoo, Thicket, Savannah, Nama-Karoo, Forest and Grassland) and plentiful animal and bird life. There are over 30 species of game on Kamala including Buffalo, Rhino, lion, elephant and large herds of Giraffe, Nyala, Lechwe, Zebra, Bontebok, Bushbuck, Wildebeest, Gemsbok, Kudu and many more. There are over 250 bird species including Black Eagles, Fish Eagles, Blue Cranes, Secretary Birds, a nesting site of over 200 Spoonbills and sacred Ibises, abundant water and Karoo birds. A unique feature is in addition to conventional game reserve activities our adjoining Sheercliff Adventures cater for the more adventurous.
