Breathe, hike, fish, play, relax… Enjoy peace, tranquility, breathtaking beauty and spectacular views of mountain peaks and valley gorges. This is just a taste of what Kinmel Guest Farm & Lodge has to offer. Summer views offers the splendour of cascading waterfalls and lush green mountain sides in contrast with the magnificent colours of autumn, pitch-black perfect night skies, and picturesque pure white snow-covered mountains. At the foot of the Naudes Nek Mountain pass, this piece of paradise is perfectly situated in the Southern Drakensberg, a mere 1.5 km outside the historic village of Rhodes. We offer self-catering or bed and breakfast accommodation to our guests who will have the benefit of a farm-style stay in modern, spacious, well equipped accommodation, yet we are still very close to the amenities Rhodes has to offer. Enjoy invigorating hikes in the surrounding mountains, swim in the river or play in the rock pools, go fly-fishing, walking, birdwatching and mountain biking. Savour the scenery on our many 4×4 trails, enjoy a leisurely picnic beneath the willows down by the river, or you can simply put your feet up, relax and enjoy the splendour which the Southern Drakensberg has to offer. Wild rainbow trout swimming side by side with elusive yellow fish abound in the Bell River, making it a fly-fishermans paradise. Kinmel has its own stretch of the Bell River, specifically reserved for our guests only. The region also boasts a number of dams and more than 200 km of rivers and crystal clear running water in which to cast your fly. Relax in the old sheep shearing barn that has been converted into two comfortable, fully equipped chalets with a rustic enchantment Or if just need to take a break from the Drakensberg dirt roads… Kinmel Lodge offers you modern, luxurious, comfortable en-suite rooms with a queen size double bed. Wake up to a hearty breakfast, fresh air and spectacular views We also are a fully functional active farm where guests and especially children are invited to acquaint themselves with a variety of farm animals. We fully support the principles of eco-tourism, defined as responsible travel to natural areas, which conserves the environment and improves the welfare of the local inhabitants. In addition, this area was once home to South Africas first people, the San, as is evidenced by the many rock art sites – these can be viewed by appointment. From December to February our wild flowers are truly beautiful and the area also boasts the highest navigable mountain pass in South Africa, the Naudes Nek Pass.
