Mark Whitehead Safaris

Mark Whitehead and his wife Tracey own and run Mark Whitehead Safaris on the ranch Olivewoods. After studying Ranch Management at Texas Christian University and working for a while in the USA, Mark returned to his home in the Eastern Cape, and started the long and hard process of turning a commercial farm into a game ranch. That was in 1985. Mark has a passion for the fauna and flora of the region, and he has been hard at work, rehabilitating the veld. Since starting the game ranch, he has reintroduced about 14 antelope species and Zebra onto the ranch. Ornithology has always been a hobby of Marks and he has an expert knowledge of the local birds and a broad knowledge of most of the birds of the Southern African region. Marks latest quest is to improve his knowledge of the local plants; their common names, scientific names and the uses to which the locals put them. Mark grew up in the Eastern Cape, and his passion for, and knowledge of, all aspects of the fauna and flora of the region will truly make your stay an unforgettable one.
