Mdumbi Backpackers

Mdumbi Backpackers is in rural Eastern Cape in Tshani Village, situated on a hill overlooking the stuning Mdumbi Beach. It exists of traditionaly built Xhosa rondavels for accommodation, communal kitchen, toilets and showers and there is a Mdumbi Cafe on the premises as well. Mdumbi Backpackers main objective is to create as many jobs as possible for local community members and create opportunities for development in areas of health, education and job creation. This was the motivation behind Transcape NPO, a non profit organization active in Nqeleni district, see www.transcape.org Mdumbi beach and river is a playground galore and one of the safest and most secluded beaches on the Wild Coast for water sports, swimming and boat launching.
