Mpongo Private Game Reserve

The Mpongo Private Game Reserve, nestled in the malaria-free Eastern Cape, only 35 km from the popular coastal city of East London, offers visitors a one-of-a-kind experience of game viewing and true South African hospitality. The Reserve derives its name from the Umpongo River, which features prominently in Xhosa history. According to legend, Nonkosi one of the instigators of the widespread Xhosa suicide attempt lived near the river. It is also said that some of the relics from her kraal can be found at the Reserve. The Reserve offers a unique blend of luxury & gaming experiences on more than 3,500ha of conservation land. With its rolling hills, river valleys and luxurious surroundings, it appeals to even the keenest eco-tourist. Mpongos River Lodge & Chalets provide game lodge accommodation in the heart of the reserve.
