This warm, homely backpackers is located in a 100-year-old building in one of Port Elizabeths oldest and most interesting suburbs. Its within walking distance of the beach, places to eat and drink, shops, clubs, parks, museums and transport and has a wonderful view of the sea and harbour from the rooms. The hostel is clean, light and airy, with original Oregon Pine flooring. There is a common room with a television, games and library and an outside courtyard with a braai area. Laundry facilities are offered, and a well-stocked kitchen and bar are available for general use. Hearty breakfasts are served daily, and other meals are also offered, including regular braais and potjies, which are traditional to the South African way of life. Various tours and trips are available, including visits to game parks, a township tour, Addo Elephant tours, sandboarding, and lifts to some of the best beaches in the world St Georges Park complex, which includes PEs cricket grounds (and the first cricket club in the country), is just a stroll away. Free pick ups are offered from the airport, station and bus stations. Baz bus stops at the hostel, and tickets for the Baz Bus, Greyhound and Intercape are sold there.
