Regyne Protea Farm in the Tsitsikamma recently opened its
gates to the public for protea tours. The tours will be run by
Oudebosch Farmstall, situated a mere 70km from St Francis
on the R102. Diewald Niemann, the owner of Oudebosch
Farmstall, says groups are escorted to the farm for a
60-minute tour. Visitors are educated on how proteas are
propagated, either from seeds or cuttings, shown flowers in
bloom and taken on a tour through the packing shed where
the flowers are prepared, mainly for export. After the tour,
guests go back to Oudebosch Farmstall for lunch. Tours are
available from Mondays to Fridays. However, exceptions can
be made on special request.
