Uthando Leatherworks

Uthando (love in isiXhosa) has been a dream of Liena Johnsons for years. Ever since she trained in leatherwork five years ago, Liena has wanted her own business. Then, unexpectedly, she received the seed money an act of love memorialised by the name of her business, which is also a project attached to Sneeuwitjie pre-school. Now she is able to buy kudu and cow hide in Port Elizabeth and make waistcoats and jackets of the supplest leather. With the offcuts, she makes purses, hats and keyholders.
