WOODCLIFFE COUNTRY HOUSE

Located in Maclear

Woodcliffe Country House is 22 km from Maclear, just 7km off the R396 which connects Maclear via Naude’s Nek to Rhodes.  Woodcliffe is the last inhabited farm before the high Drakensberg in the Joelshoek Valley. Guests would need a reasonable clearance vehicle. Woodcliffe is a fully operational beef farm. Woodcliffe offers self catering accommodation and camping. Woodcliffe is a pristine Drakensberg destination with exceptional scenery. The views are of the foothills of sandstone cliffs which have indigenous forests nestled into them and the high Drakensberg which is of basalt. Woodcliffe has approximately 1000mm of rain a year. Our 8 km of the Little Pot River and 2km of Redcliffe stream are crystal clear and are excellent for fly fishing. These waters have been well documented in Sidney Hey’s “Rapture of the River” and in more recent fly fishing magazines. Woodcliffe offers a selection of circular day hikes. Bring your mountain bicycle to explore the jeep tracks which will take you through exceptional scenery. A nature guide may be arranged in advance to take you to our rock art sites and high altitude orchids in the summer months. Woodcliffe is known to be the most scenically spectacular place for miles around. There is a true sense of peace and tranquillity here.
