EASTERN CAPE DESTINATIONS FLY THE FLAG AT WTM AFRICA 2025

The Eastern Cape’s tourism offering remained in the international spotlight as several local tourism offices participated in the prestigious World Travel Market (WTM) Africa, held from 9 to 11 April 2025 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

While the Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency (ECPTA) did not exhibit at this year’s WTM Africa, Makana Tourism, Sunshine Coast – Port Alfred, and Kenton-on-Sea & Boesmans Tourism did. Their presence formed part of a broader delegation hosted by the Sarah Baartman District Municipality, showcasing the region’s diverse tourism experiences to international buyers, trade partners, and media stakeholders.

Events such as WTM Africa play a crucial role in strengthening destination visibility and opening new market opportunities for tourism growth. The presence of our local tourism offices ensured that the Eastern Cape remained visible and competitive within the international marketplace.

The Agency remains committed to collaborating with district municipalities, local tourism offices, and stakeholders to grow and promote the Eastern Cape’s tourism economy collectively. The presence of local destinations at platforms such as WTM Africa underscores the strength of partnerships in ensuring our province retains its rightful place within the global tourism landscape.
