The Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency (ECPTA) officially launched the summer season on Thursday, 1 December 2022, at the Wild Coast Sun in Port Edward.
The aim of the launch was to promote and drive domestic tourism during this festive season – especially in the Wild Coast region.
MEC for Finance, Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism, Mr Mlungisi Gerald Mvoko, emphasised that a summer season launch was a yearly event to create awareness of all the Eastern Cape offers.
This year’s summer season theme is Fall In Love with the Eastern Cape. “Once you start discovering all the province has to offer, you will find there’s so much to fall in love with. We want all our visitors to come and discover, explore and experience the Eastern Cape for an unforgettable summer,” said ECPTA Destination Marketing Manager Lavinia Shaw.
“If you are not sure where to start exploring the Eastern Cape, why not try the bucket list that we’ve put together for 2022/23? Start ticking off some of the wonderful, diverse experiences on the list,” Shaw continued.
ECPTA PR and Communication Manager Oyanga Ngalika encouraged locals to travel around their backyards during the summer.
“When you come home, spend time outdoors with your friends and families – go and explore. There’s so much to do in the Eastern Cape. There are beautiful places to see and fun activities for old and young alike,” said Ngalika.
Tourism is affordable in the Eastern Cape, so you can get out and explore. There are so many diverse offerings in the province, from wide open spaces to a variety of leisure activities.
