The Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency (ECPTA) is proud to announce a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts toward game transformation and biodiversity conservation.
In 2019, our Scientific Services unit achieved a remarkable accomplishment by publishing a groundbreaking scientific paper in the esteemed South African Geographical Journal. Authored by Thabiso M. Mokotjomela and Nomatile Nombewu, the paper is titled “Potential benefits associated with implementation of the national biodiversity economy strategy in the Eastern Cape Province, South Africa.”
This pioneering work sheds light on the potential benefits of the National Biodiversity Economy Strategy (NBES) within the Eastern Cape Province, presenting invaluable insights and lessons from the program’s inception stage at ECPTA in 2016.
The publication underscores the importance of integrating biodiversity conservation with economic development, offering a sustainable pathway for the region.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Thabiso M. Mokotjomela and Nomatile Nombewu for their outstanding contribution to biodiversity economics and conservation. Their work inspires and guides our agency as we strive to balance ecological integrity with economic development, ensuring a sustainable and prosperous future for the Eastern Cape.
