The Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency (ECPTA) employee, Sibongiseni Nomngcoyiya, has been selected to represent the University of South Africa (UNISA) at the esteemed Middle East and Africa (MEA) Future Leaders competition. This prestigious event, scheduled to take place in Dubai in January 2025, will showcase the exceptional talent and innovative ideas of future leaders in the tourism and hospitality sector.
Nomngcoyiya and three other outstanding tourism students from the Department of Applied Management in UNISA’s College of Economic and Management Sciences have been chosen to participate in this global competition. The selection process was rigorous, highlighting these students’ exceptional calibre and potential to make significant contributions to the tourism industry.
Reflecting on this remarkable opportunity, Nomngcoyiya said being selected to represent UNISA and the Eastern Cape at the MEA Future Leaders competition is a tremendous honour.
“This opportunity means the world to me, both personally and professionally. It provides a platform to showcase our innovative ideas on a global stage, learn from industry leaders, and network with peers from around the world,” said Nomngcoyiya.
Nomngcoyiya added that as someone working in the tourism industry, this experience will broaden my horizons, enhance my skills, and equip me with new insights that I can bring back to benefit our local tourism initiatives.”
