ECPTA PROMOTES WILD COAST AS ADVENTURE CYCLING AND TOURISM DESTINATION

The Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency (ECPTA) in collaboration with Bike Network continues to position the Wild Coast as one of South Africa’s premier destinations for adventure tourism, particularly mountain biking and eco-adventures, highlighting the region’s unique blend of breathtaking coastal scenery, cultural heritage, and sustainable tourism experiences.

The Wild Coast area around Kei River Mouth and Mazeppa Bay offers cyclists unparalleled trails that weave through cattle tracks, jeep routes, indigenous forests, and pristine beaches. Popular routes, such as those featured in the annual Imana Wild Ride, encourage visitors to explore the rich natural and cultural landscapes responsibly.

ECPTA actively supports these experiences by advocating sustainable tourism practices that protect local biodiversity while encouraging economic benefits for surrounding communities. Attractions like Mazeppa Bay Hotel and Trennerys Hotel, alongside natural highlights such as Double Mouth Nature Reserve and Manubi State Forest, enrich the appeal for tourists beyond cycling.

Visitors can also experience guided hikes, community interactions, birdwatching, kayaking, and fishing, promoting year-round tourism in the Wild Coast region. Through fostering sustainable tourism and adventure offerings, ECPTA is committed to ensuring that the economic and conservation benefits continue to positively impact local communities.
