To boost the tourism sector and attract international tourists to the Eastern Cape, The Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency (ECPTA) recently made waves on the international tourism scene with its noteworthy participation in the World Travel Market London (WTM) which was held at ExCeL London Exhibition & Convention Centre from the 6th-8th November 2023.
This annual event is a premier global platform that brings together tourism professionals, stakeholders, and enthusiasts from around the world. The ECPTA’s active involvement underscores the Agency’s commitment to showcasing the rich cultural and natural heritage of the Eastern Cape province on a global stage.
ECPTA Chief Executive Officer, Vuyani Dayimani, said participation in global events like WTM London provides an excellent opportunity for the ECPTA to foster collaboration and partnerships with international tour operators, travel agencies, and other stakeholders.
“By establishing these connections, the agency seeks to enhance the visibility of the Eastern Cape as a must-visit destination and attract a broader audience of travellers”, said Dayimani
Dayimani continued saying the “Agency’s active participation in the WTM underscores the province’s dedication to positioning itself as a premier global destination. As the world continues to evolve, the Agency’s engagement in international platforms like WTM London signals its determination to thrive in the global tourism landscape”.
Led by the Minister of Tourism, Honourable Patricia De Lille, the South African contingent to the global trade show comprised of 27 South African exhibitors, showcasing a mix of the country’s diverse tourism products and experiences.
Minister De Lille said the “WTM is pivotal for re-establishing connections, gleaning valuable market insights, and promoting our remarkable destination. As a highly competitive destination, we as South Africa, must show our partners that we know that travellers’ needs have evolved and that in fact we do have what they are looking for”.
Minister De Lille continued to say that they are serious about growing arrivals to South Africa and for our sector to have a positive impact on the South African economy.
