GREAT FISH NATURE RESERVE USED GAME CAPTURE TO MENTOR STUDENTS

The ECPTA’s Great Fish Nature Reserve (GFNR) recently conducted a successful game capture and translocation operation. This initiative focused on wildlife management and served as a platform for mentoring students and young conservationists from various reserves. The operation provided firsthand experience in game capture, advancing their technical skills in the field while contributing to broader game transformation initiatives.

During the operation, experienced professionals guided the students through the complexities of wildlife management.

GFNR Manager, Sizwe Mkhulise emphasised the importance of these opportunities. “Mentoring the next generation of conservationists is crucial for the future of wildlife management.

“Involving students in operations like these, we ensure they gain practical knowledge that will shape their careers and the sustainability of our reserves,” added Mkhulise.

The initiative reflected the reserve’s commitment to conservation and skills development, showcasing how wildlife operations can advance environmental and educational goals simultaneously.
