Groendal Nature Reserve has been voted the second favourite holiday resort/camping site by readers across Uitenhage, Despatch, Kirkwood and Addo.
UD Express ran its first Readers’ Choice competition from 7 August to 5 September 2025, inviting the community to celebrate their local favourites. The results will be featured in the UD Trading Star white paper supplement, inserted in UD Express on Thursday, 30 October 2025. This recognition reflects the steady work of the Groendal team and the Biodiversity & Conservation division in keeping the reserve welcoming and top-of-mind for local visitors.
Executive Director for Biodiversity & Conservation, Eleanor van den Berg-McGregor, congratulated the team, describing the recognition as an excellent result and commending reserve management, colleagues and the Friends of Groendal for their work and dedication. She added that this is a well deserved accolade that this team can truly feel proud off.
