NEW ECO-LUXURY DEVELOPMENT NEAR ADDO SIGNALS GROWTH IN SUSTAINABLE TOURISM

The momentum toward sustainable tourism in the Eastern Cape is further reinforced by new private sector investment in the province.

Tourism Update reported that Mantis Collection launched Mantis Hidden in Addo, an off-grid eco-luxury lodge that officially opened on 1 March 2026 within a private reserve near Addo Elephant National Park.

The lodge operates entirely off-grid through solar energy, water harvesting and recycling systems, reflecting growing demand for environmentally responsible travel experiences.

Speaking to industry media, Mantis Collection CEO Craig Erasmus noted that the development represents “a new chapter for eco-luxury tourism in South Africa.”

This investment strengthens the Eastern Cape’s positioning as a destination that combines premium tourism experiences with sustainability and conservation outcomes.
