SOUTH AFRICA’S TOURISM GROWTH CREATES OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE EASTERN CAPE

South Africa’s tourism sector continues to show strong growth, creating new opportunities for provinces such as the Eastern Cape to attract both domestic and international travellers.

According to Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille, South Africa recorded over 10.48 million international arrivals in 2025, marking a 17.6% increase and the highest number ever recorded.

The Minister emphasised that tourism remains a key driver of economic growth, investment, and job creation across the country.

This upward trend creates a strong platform for the Eastern Cape to increase its share of visitors by leveraging its unique offering of nature reserves, coastal experiences, and cultural tourism.
