STORMSRIVER ADVENTURES-TSITSIKAMMA CANOPY TOUR RE-CERTIFIED BY FAIR TRADE TOURISM

With a legacy of over 20 years, the organisation remains steadfast in its commitment to environmental stewardship, community empowerment, and unforgettable eco-adventure experiences.

In 2003, Stormsriver Adventures made history by being among the first activity companies to receive accreditation from Fair Trade Tourism (FTT), a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting responsible tourism across Africa. Two decades later, the company continues to uphold the principles and values that earned them this esteemed recognition.

The Managing Director of Stormsriver Adventures, Anneline Wyatt, reflecting on the company’s journey, said their ethos has always been to promote environmental education, conservation, and eco-adventure forest tours while uplifting the surrounding community.

“We are proud that we have just received our Fair-Trade Tourism re-accreditation, achieving an impressive overall performance of 94% for mandatory and 80% for general criteria,” said Wyatt.

The rigorous audit process, conducted by an independent auditor, validates Stormsriver Adventures’ unwavering dedication to responsible tourism.

The Independent Auditor, Liesl Hattingh, praised the company as a pioneer among responsible tourism enterprises, noting their deep-rooted commitment to community engagement and environmental preservation.

“The business is clearly aligned with the needs of the community that part-owns it and from where most employees are sources and highly respectful of the value of the natural environment which provides the basis for its unique products,” said Hattingh.
