TSOLWANA NATURE RESERVE HOSTED DISASTER AND FIRE MANAGEMENT TRAINING

Tsolwana Nature Reserve hosted a Disaster and Fire Management Training on the 19th February 2026, bringing together key stakeholders and reserve personnel for a focused capacity-building initiative.

Coordinated by ECPTA, in collaboration with Chris Hani District Municipality, the training aimed to equip attendees with essential knowledge and practical skills in general disaster management protocols, risk assessment, and response strategies. Key areas of focus included managing disease outbreaks such as Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), as well as fire management, covering both veld and structural fires, and the effective use of firefighting equipment.

Attendees included staff from Tsolwana/Commando Drift Nature Reserve, Mpofu Fort Fordyce Nature Reserve, as well as members of the Tsolwana Reserve Liaison Forum. The training created a platform for knowledge sharing and strengthened coordination among stakeholders responsible for safeguarding the reserve and surrounding communities.
