POSITION : SECTION MANAGER – 2 YEAR FIXED TERM

CENTRE : BRAKFONTEIN COMMUNITY RESERVE (GREAT FISH NR)
BAND: : C LOWER
Purpose
The Section Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Brakfontein community
reserve and for implementing the interventions that form part of the GEF 7 Biodiversity Economy project.
Requirements
• A Degree/diploma in Nature Conservation or equivalent qualification in Biodiversity, Environmental
Management and Sustainability or relevant NQF 7 qualification.
• 2 years of Reserve Management experience with at least 1 year Supervision experience.
• Firearm Competency.
• Drivers Licence.
Key Performance Areas
• Administration: Manage and monitor allocated budgets and eliminate wasteful expenditure, identify
and implement revenue opportunities
• Biodiversity and Heritage Management: Implement programs for the protection and conservation
of flora and fauna, manage the education of visitors on conservation principles and responsible
behaviour
• Security: Implement technologies like camera traps, GPS tracking, and aerial surveys for
comprehensive monitoring. Develop patrol maps and area coverage maps of patrol, observations,
ecological and other relevant information.
• Maintenance: Ensure that all infrastructure is maintained as per available budget.
• Tourism Management: Ensure that visitor facilities are clean and adequately equipped.
• Stakeholder Management: Communicate and provide reserve related information to stakeholders
and attend relevant forums.
