Purpose
The Livelihoods Specialist shall facilitate partnerships, leverage financial resources, identify and develop new
business opportunities, build capacity and promote the active participation of the Brakfontein community
Reserve in the Wildlife and Biodiversity economy industry.
Requirements
• A 3 (three) year National Diploma or NQF Level 6 in environmental / natural resource
management or relevant qualification
• 2 (two) years relevant experience in any of the following fields: biodiversity economy,
community liaison, stakeholder facilitation, or enterprise development in the environmental
context.
• Qualification in Development Studies, marketing and/or commercialization would be an added
advantage.
• Knowledge of relevant conservation and environmental legislation and statutory processes
(IDP, SDF).
• Knowledge of the National Biodiversity Economy Strategy.
• Valid driver’s license.
Key Performance Areas
• Leveraging of financial opportunities and resources: Identify and leverage opportunities
to create dignified employment, entrepreneurship, and skill development for the Likhayalethu
communal Property Association (CPA). leveraging resources.
• Partnerships Building: Facilitate partnerships to ensure that Likhayalethu CPA and
Brakfontein community reserve integrate into the biodiversity economy.
• Stakeholder Management: Engage and liaise with key stakeholders critical to the success
of the Brakfontein project. Provide ongoing advice and support to the community and other
key stakeholders.
• Capacity building: Facilitate training and skills development for the Likhayalethu CPA.
• Monitoring and reporting: Monitor and report on progress.
