THE 17TH ANNUAL ICT SUMMIT

The Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency (ECPTA) in partnership with Imbizo Events recently hosted the 17th Annual Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Summit under the theme “Cloud Usage and Digital Infrastructure 2.0” at the East London Convention Centre on the 21st-23rd of November 2023.

This year’s Summit served as a platform for industry leaders, innovators, policymakers and technology enthusiasts to come together to exchange ideas and shape the future of the ICT sector. With this year’s theme, the summit explored the latest trends and advancements in cloud technology and digital infrastructure.

ECPTA CEO, Vuyani Dayimani, said as the custodians of the Eastern Cape Tourism brand, they understand the profound impact that technology has and they fully embrace its transformative power. Business events and conferences, such as this ICT Summit, play a crucial role in stimulating economic growth in our region. Beyond the immediate economic benefits, these gatherings create a ripple effect, turning business professionals into leisure holidaymakers who explore and appreciate the unique offerings of the Eastern Cape.

“I want to take you on a journey and paint a vibrant picture of the Eastern Cape for you, tease your curiosity and inspire you to explore our rich and extraordinary tapestry of tourism offerings, perhaps alone after the summit or with loved ones in the not-so-distant future,” said Dayimani.

The Eastern Cape is vast and majestic, from the Drakensberg mountain range, accredited by Ramsar and UNESCO, offering a unique experience throughout the year to the Baviaanskloof, adorned with World Heritage Site and UNESCO accolades, not only serving as a natural water catchment but also cradling the renowned Leopard Trail—a hidden gem for avid hikers. Authentic experiences are the essence of this province.

Dayimani urged the delegates to look at how ICT innovations and new advancements can contribute to the sustainable development and growth of the Eastern Cape from a tourism perspective.

“Our region, with its 800 km coastline, rich culture and heritage, value-for-money offerings, and unparalleled natural beauty, embodies the future of economic growth through effectively marrying technology and tourism,” said Dayimani.
