Named after a 1.9 metre pinnacle hill native to the area, the Tsolwana Naturereserve “Tsolwana” meaning “Spike” in Xhosa, frames the Winterberg Mountain range promising outdoor excursions with much success in sighting the more shy wildlife species that include the bat-eared fox, black backed jackal, oryx, lynx and suricate. Explore the reserve on a 4×4 adventure or hiking through vast plains of grassland views.
The climate can be extreme, with greatly varying temperatures and unpredictable heavy summer rainstorms with hail. In winter, snow falls frequently – so be prepared!
